Az Jackson first became involved in the entertainment industry while he was in his early 20's.

With the belief that he can do anything he jumped at an opportunity when he saw an advert in the local paper to become a stuntman.

He was in between jobs at the time and although the course cost over a thousand dollars he was determined to have a go. "I remember asking everyone I knew to chip in, most people thought I was crazy and didn't want to know anything about it although I managed to get half of the money together but the last $600 was like trying to extract teeth from a white pointer in a feeding frenzy" he joked. "I eventually got all of the money together and completed the course but the only down-side was that I was paying it off for the next 2 years."
Because of his gymnastic and athletic background Az was voted at the top of his class which saw him immediately performing live stunt shows around the Gold Coast, Australia. Soon after his first brush with Hollywood came when he was cast in a film called 'Casino Reef' as one of the "bad guys who gets beat up" in a bar room brawl with the lead actors.

From the buzz and excitement of his first film he then went on to get an agent and was enjoying being on set with some of Hollywood's biggest names such as Heath Leger in 'Roar', Geoffrey Rush and Judy Davis in 'Swimming Up-Stream' as well as Benjamin Bratt, Joseph Feinnes, James Franco, Craig McLaughlin, Sam Worthington and Robert Mamone in 'The Great Raid'.
Things happen for a reason and although he didn't pursue a long career in stunts because of the lack of opportunities in Australia Az thought that he had more than served his apprenticeship of being an extra.

"It got to the point where I knew that I had a lot more to offer than just being an extra although nobody was willing to give me a go, especially my agent." Az says "That's when I knew it was time to move on. Only problem was that I was right in the middle of shooting a film and contracted to it when I decided to leave my agent. It got ugly and I thought it might but I soon realised just how ugly when I found out the casting directors that I once knew where not seeing me anymore. So that's when I decided to take it more seriously."
After a year of searching Az finally found himself at an acting class with a reputable teacher and from there went on to discover the world in a different light. "It's amazing the journey I've been on. I've learnt so much about myself but more importantly about human nature, body language and even my own spirituality and how I can help others. When you study human nature the way an actor does you learn how to listen to people's needs properly"

Being a shy person by nature when he was younger Az went on to discover his real self and gained more and more confidence in the fact that he can offer the world something. "Acting's great... I get to dress up, play with guns, imitate people and yell at the top of my lungs and get away with it. I've been told that I'm crazy before, but I don't mind that. I guess I just like to live life and have fun and sometimes I tend to have more fun than others."

So far Az has spent over 8 years in the business which is really only the beginning and is now starting to gain more recognition on the Australian and international markets with one of his films screening in Cannes Film Festival this year as well as being listed on the IMDb - the world's largest internet movie database. Aside from him producing some small live theatre events, Az has taken his hand to writing and recently knocked out a handful of short film scripts. "Look if they're not going to cast me, then I'll just write and produce my own films" he says with a wry grin.

So keep an eye out for Az Jackson when three of his Australian films 'Gabriel', 'Gene-X' and 'I Know How Many Runs You Scored Last Summer' in which he plays pivotal and major roles are set for release by the end of this year or early next year.
